Beachscape, Puri

Posted by Sugata (Newark, United States) on 5 January 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I took this photo at Puri, Orissa, India. The boat was lying on the beach... the camel is ridden by the tourists. Puri is one of the most important pilgrimage places for the Hindus and draws large crowds every year. Consequently, the beaches are quite dirty all the time. However, Puri also has magnifinent waves which are very good for photographing.
I used a polarizer filter for this shot. This polarizer belongs to my SLR but like the previous shot, I held it in front of my digital point-and-shoot while taking the photo.

Thanks a lot to everyone who commented on my photos, or even stopped by for a visit. The comments have been pouring in pretty fast (there are over 1500 already!) and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to reply to each individually. I'd rather spend that time in viewing others' photos and commenting there. But I do read each comment individually, and if you ask me something specific, I'll answer that.

I am new to the photoblogging world. Still, I thought I would enter for the 2009 Photoblog Awards. Please vote for me if you think I deserve a vote and registering isn't too much of a trouble.
