The Moon Tonight

Posted by Sugata (Newark, United States) on 4 November 2009 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

Taken while leaning out of my attic window. Have been dying to take this shot since I bought the Pentax K-7. This is a handheld shot taken using my Vivitar manual focus 100-300mm f/5.6-6.5 zoom coupled with my Vivitar 2x teleconvertor. That gives a total focal length of 600mm (900mm in 35mm equivalent). I think the Pentax's shake reduction system worked pretty well considering that the shutter speed was just 1/400 sec. The RAW image also showed considerably less noise than the JPEGs at ISO 200.

Thanks a lot to everyone who commented on my photos, or even stopped by for a visit. The comments have been pouring in pretty fast (there are over 1500 already!) and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to reply to each individually. I'd rather spend that time in viewing others' photos and commenting there. But I do read each comment individually, and if you ask me something specific, I'll answer that.

I am new to the photoblogging world. Still, I thought I would enter for the 2009 Photoblog Awards. Please vote for me if you think I deserve a vote and registering isn't too much of a trouble.
