General Grant, the giant sequoia seen here, is the second largest tree on the planet in terms of trunk volume. The 1700 year old tree is 268 feet tall and has a diameter of 40 feet at the base. Its first branch is at a height oof 129 feet and the largest branch has a diameter of 4.5 feet.
It stands in the Grant Grove in Kings Canyon National Park in California.
